Dr Malinga Ratwatte

GP ST3 North London & Chair, BMA GP Registrars Committee

Dr Malinga Ratwatte is a GP ST3 and Chair of the BMA GP Registrars Committee. He is a former academic supervisor for biostatistics and epidemiology at Christ’s College, Cambridge and completed his Foundation Training in East Anglia.

He went on to develop further clinical experience as a senior specialty doctor in Emergency Medicine before embarking on GP specialty training on the Barnet scheme in North London. He was elected Chair of the BMA GP Registrars Committee in September 2023 and leads a team of representatives in negotiating contractual policy for approximately 15,000 GP registrars across the UK.

He has a longstanding interest in health policy and the use of technology in medicine and is a passionate advocate for general practice at both a regional and national level.
