Academic General Practice Trainee, Chair of BMA’s GP Trainees Committee
Dr David M. Smith is an academic general practice trainee, training in Yorkshire, England. He has an interest in public health and the reasons why GP trainees choose their post-CCT career options, which he researches in partnership with the Hull York Medical School. He has a leadership portfolio, having completed the NHS Future Leaders Fellowship in Yorkshire, alongside being an active member of the BMA throughout medical school and his junior doctor training. He was elected Chair of BMA’s GP Trainees Committee in Sept 2022 and has championed GP trainees in their fight alongside other junior doctors for full pay restoration and, in England, addressing the deficit in the GP flexible pay premia.
