Amanda qualified as a registered nurse in 2000 and has a diverse background working in primary, secondary and community services. Amanda has undertaken post-graduate clinical and research training; her speciality field is cardiology specifically heart failure. Amanda has a broad experience of working as a heart failure nurse and manager within heart failure services working in Bradford, Doncaster, Hull & East Yorkshire. She has been instrumental in service changes and design and remains passionate about improving heart failure care for patients and their families. Amanda is a proactive educator and has strong background in teaching and mentoring other members of the healthcare team. Her collaborations include Education for Health, Rotherham Respiratory Group, an international programme for heart failure education (CORE) in addition to working with the pharmaceutical industry. Amanda is currently finalising her PhD studies (home tele monitoring in patients with heart failure) and has experience of conducting research. Amanda currently works as an advanced nurse practitioner within primary care in East Yorkshire. She sees patients with acute illness in addition to those with chronic disease. Most recently, she has conducted a heart failure audit in general practice which has led to a novel primary care heart failure clinic being initiated to improve patient care.
