Dr Pete Smith

Independent consultant in Health Inequalities, President of The Self Care Forum and Senior Research Fellow with the Self Care Academic Research Unit, Imperial College

Peter’s background is as a GP for 30 years, involved in innovative practice and evidence-based care. 

 

He was previously chair of The National Association of Primary Care, a member of the task force responsible for the document ‘Tackling health inequalities’, published books on evidence based national guidelines, sat on the Evidence Board for NICE, was Director of primary care for UH UK, was a founder member and is current President of the Self Care Forum and is a Founder member of the Self Care Academic Research Unit, Imperial College. He retired from full time practice in 2019 but since then has worked for a time as a GP with the NHS 111 Coronavirus Clinical Assessment Service and continues to support PCNs with their health inequalities work.
